Gather and ground - a full moon retreat in Cornwall

  • Resonant Being Crowns Cottage, Manaccan Helston TR12 6HY (map)

Welcome to our October full moon retreat (6th - 11th Oct) held in the Lizard Peninsula, an area of outstanding natural beauty and wildness. Together we will explore sound as medicine, sound as meditation; supplemented with daily yoga, vibrant plant based food and special events and ceremonies (see below).

We have found that a weekend retreat is not quite enough and so we create this extended, intimate 5 night experience in wildly healing Cornwall. Our retreats are limited to 4 people and will suit those who are ready to immerse themselves in healing sound away from daily distractions and responsibilities.

As we move into Autumn there is an invitation to inward restoration and slowing rhythms. The hunters moon would have symbolised gathering resources for winter - for these times, how do we need to gather ourselves energetically? We find the quiet turning of the woods, the gentle cooling of the waters and the grounding local produce very healing at this time of year.

You will stay in our home, a characterful 170 year old Cornish Farmhouse near Helford, and practises will take place in our custom built roundhouse sound temple as well as out in nature. All meals are provided; lunch is a special time to get together as a ‘retreat family’.

In the mornings we practise nada meditation; the yoga of sound, voice and listening as well as simple asana, pranayama and mudras. All levels of yoga experience are welcome and with small group tuition everyone gets to develop and deepen according to their own needs. In the afternoons will be sound healing (‘sound bath’) where you lay down and become absorbed in the vibrations of sacred instruments like gongs, singing bowls, flutes, lyre, ocean drum and voice.

Through the week are special workshop and ceremonies such as creative song/ poetry writing with Andy, cacao ceremony with Ali, coastal walk to discover secret coves and creeks, sunrise sound healing in nature, songs round the fire and full moon night swim.

As well as opportunities to be together as a group there is plenty of time for solitary exploring, reading and snuggling up by the fires. Everyone has their own room with a double bed - couples are welcome to share the en suite room.

Need to know more details? FAQ:

What style of yoga do you teach?

We see yoga as a holistic way of life so we are more focused on inner awareness and energy flow than complex poses - and how this yoga practise complements the healing work with sound. Ali has trained as a yoga therapist and teaches in a mindful, joyful, breath centred way which honours her traditional Indian teachers as well as the demands of today’s lifestyle on mind and body. She has recently studied yoga for the stages of the menopause and trauma informed yoga nidra.

What is sound healing?

We work with sound in both a therapeutic and musical way. The use of ‘pure’ sound through the gongs, singing bowls, vocal toning etc has many benefits for the nervous system, immune system, subtle energy system and on a cellular level. We work with ancient instruments like flutes, sistrum and lyre to create beautiful sound journeys which calm the mind and facilitate expanded states of consciousness. Andy shares with you the beauty of the word and melody through his song writing and mantra compositions. Please scroll through the website for more of the benefits of sound healing.

What food is included?

We offer a light breakfast after morning yoga, a main meal at lunchtime and a light supper after evening sound healing. Healthy snacks and fruit are available throughout the day. All food is plant based, local and organic as far as possible and gluten free is available. We love to bake, forage and experiment with flavours. Herbal teas are provided throughout and we will offer a cacao ceremony one evening.

What do I need to bring?

We provide all yoga equipment but ask you to bring your own mat. The nearest shops are 10 mins drive so bring everything you need for comfort and being outdoors in the variable Cornish climate. Towels are provided except for the beach. You will also need a journal and pen/ drawing materials - we will provide a full list upon booking.

How do I get to you?

We are 20 mins drive from Helston. Regular trains run from London to Truro/ Penzance (4.5-5hrs) which are 45 mins away from our place. Flights are available from London, Scotland, Dublin and many locations to Newquay which is just over an hour away.
